An 11-year-old girl who was abducted has been found safe after an Amber Alert was issued earlier this week. But a newly surfaced video shows a suspicious car following her days before she was abducted.

What happened: The video, which was released by the Springfield Police Department in Springfield, Massachusetts, shows a blue Honda sedan following the young girl down the street, according to CNN.

  • Police told CNN that the man forced the girl, Charlotte, into the car when she was walking home from school.
  • A woman drove the car when the incident took place.
  • A home security video caught the blue car following the girl down the road.
  • The blue Honda was suspected to be the car the kidnappers drove at the time of the incident, according to CNN.

Rescue: Authorities issued an Amber Alert Wednesday to help find the missing girl, ABC News reports. Plenty of drivers in Massachusetts said they spotted the suspected car about 30 minutes away.

  • Officer used construction signs to create one lane on the Massachusetts Turnpike so they could funnel traffic and cause a slowdown.
  • Per ABC News: “When they spotted the suspect’s car, they stopped the vehicle and found Charlotte in the back seat, with the suspect in the driver’s seat and a knife visible in the pocket of the door, police said.”

Ambert Alert: The police thank the Amber Alert for helping them find the missing girl.

  • “We had to do some investigation before the Amber Alert is issued,” Springfield Police Commissioner Cheryl Clapprood said during a press conference after the rescue Wednesday, according to MassLive.com. “The Amber Alert has certain qualifications. We had to make sure these met the qualifications. The Amber Alert was invaluable in this case.”
