In a bold move, Buffalo Wild Wings has put money — well, wings — on the fact that Super Bowl LIV will not go into overtime.
In a press release, Buffalo Wild Wings announced that if the Feb. 2 faceoff between the San Fransisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs goes into overtime, then it will be giving out free wings to anyone who wants them in the U.S. and Canada.
“Football fans love to have fun with our established connection to overtime, tweeting at us any time a game goes to extra time. That was taken to the next level last year when free wings were on the line, so we knew we had to bring this program back,” said Seth Freeman, chief marketing officer, Buffalo Wild Wings, in a press release. “More football AND free wings? Now that’s something all football fans can get behind and root for on Feb. 2!”
The free wings won’t be available on Super Bowl Sunday, as it’s already one of the busiest days of the year for Buffalo Wild Wings. Instead, the wings will be available Monday, Feb. 17, President’s Day, from 4 to 7 p.m.
This is the second year Buffalo Wild Wings has made this offer, but possibly the first time it will make good on it, according to Fox News. Although last year’s Super Bowl game was tied at the beginning of the fourth quarter, the tie was broken before overtime was called. This year, BetMGM, a Las Vegas oddsmaker, has set the probability of overtime at 10%.
