President Donald Trump will participate in a town hall event with NBC News Thursday night, setting him up for competition with Democratic nominee Joe Biden’s own town hall event on ABC.

  • Both events are scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 15.
  • Both events begin at 8 p.m. ET.

Context:

The two town hall events are scheduled for the same night as the second presidential debate, which was canceled after Trump refused to participate in a virtual format for the event, which I wrote about for Deseret.

NBC rules:

The NBC event will take place outside, though, according to CNN.

  • “The event is set to take place outdoors and in accordance with the guidelines set forth by health officials, also consistent with all government regulations,” Hoda Kotb said on NBC’s “Today” show about the event.
  • Savannah Guthrie will moderate the event.
  • Attendees will need to wear masks for the town hall.

ABC News chief anchor George Stephanopoulos will moderate the ABC town hall event.
