- “In a year like no other, I’m proud of what this team has accomplished and grateful for the care and connection they’ve provided our guests and communities. Target’s success this year is a direct result of our team members turning our purpose into action and meeting our guests’ changing needs day after day.” — Melissa Kremer, Target’s chief HR officer.
A form of ‘hero pay’
CNBC reports that other chains — like Walmart, Amazon and Kroger — increased pay for employees during the pandemic. The “hero pay” was meant to help employees who helped keep shelves stocked and worked long hours during the early months of the pandemic.
- Daily cases for coronavirus have been on the rise throughout the United States, and the fall surge looms ahead, too. More people may be stocking up for the winter this year.
The Wall Street Journal reports that grocers are preparing for an extreme winter since the pandemic is coming, too.
- “Supermarkets are stockpiling groceries and storing them early to prepare for the fall and winter months, when some health experts warn the country could see another widespread outbreak of virus cases and new restrictions,” according to The Wall Street Journal.
