Good tidings for followers of the “live más” credo: Taco Bell is introducing a slew of new items that are available nationwide and in limited markets.
- Perhaps the biggest addition is the return of the Toasted Cheddar Chalupa Box, which was rereleased nationwide on Nov. 5.
What’s in the box?
According to FoodandWine.com, the box’s centerpiece consists of a deep-fried toasted cheddar shell, filled with the customer’s choice of black beans, beef, grilled chicken or steak and topped with lettuce, cheddar, tomato and sour cream.
- The box also includes a hard shelled taco, a medium soft drink and cinnamon twists.
It’s a limited-time offer, though.
Now through Nov. 15, the restaurant is offering a “bogo” (buy one get one) deal for its Toasted Cheddar Chalupa Box to anyone who orders the meal for delivery through Uber Eats. The company announced this limited-time offer in a tweet:
Taco Bell and Uber Eats are joining forces to provide delivery coverage to 4,700 Taco Bell locations across the U.S. Celebrate the partnership with the purchase of a Toasted Cheddar Chalupa Box and get one free, only on Uber Eats. There are some other new additions:
The restaurant also added the new Chipotle Chicken Melt to its Cravings Value Menu. According to AllRecipes.com, the melt combines grilled chicken with chipotle sauce and cheddar cheese together in a warm flour tortilla.
New vegetarian options
For those of us who don’t eat meat, the fast food chain recently announced the expansion of its vegetarian options, according to Thrillist. These new items include the Black Bean Toasted Cheddar Chalupa, the Black Bean (regular) Chalupa and the Veggie Nachos Party Pack.
- According to the Thrillist, all three of these meat-free dishes are certified vegetarian by the American Vegetarian Association and are available nationwide starting Nov. 5.
In Houston the restaurant chain is testing out the Double Steak Grilled Cheese Burrito, which “doubles up on both seasoned rice and marinated steak, stuffing those along with chipotle and nacho cheese sauces, crunchy red strips, sour cream, and a three-cheese blend inside a flour tortilla,” according to AllRecipes.com.
Connoisseurs of spice can special order the burrito to be topped with grilled jalapeños.
Atlanta and Nashville will test out new Loaded Nachos. The dish is described as a bed of crunchy tortilla chips layered with refried beans, nacho cheese sauce, a three-cheese blend, sour cream, tomatoes, and guacamole, according to FoodandWine.com.
Say goodbye to old favorites
These new items come at the expense of older ones. As the fast food chain announced in a press release earlier this fall, all shredded chicken items have been removed from Taco Bell menus nationwide. Same goes for the Mexican Pizza, although some of the item’s most ardent fans are currently petitioning for it to be reinstated, per FoodandWine.com.
