A new 3D map shows how novel coronavirus cases have moved and spiked throughout the country since the beginning of the crisis.

The map shows little blips of cases in the early months of the pandemic. Slowly, the map evolves to show giant spikes of cases all throughout the country.

  • A high concentration of the cases linger in the Midwest.
  • The map specifically shows cases by 1,000 residents. The scale ranges from zero to 1,000 or more.
  • The beginning of the map’s movement shows cases from zero to 250. But by the end of the map, most the cases reach the 1,000-plus mark.

COVID-19 cases soon to explode across the country

These case numbers might seem terrifying already. But it might only be the beginning. Dr. Scott Gottlieb recently told CNBC the coronavirus pandemic is “about to explode” across the United States as we head into the winter.

  • “The challenge is this virus is distributed everywhere across the country right now,” Gottlieb said. “We’re going to have a really significant epidemic wave across the entire nation and, unfortunately, it’s going to cause a lot of death and disease before we’re able to have this therapeutic counterattack, not just with the vaccine, but also with these therapeutic antibodies.”
