The United States is seeing a large spike in coronavirus cases and hospitalizations as Americans head into the winter season — and it may only be the beginning.

To help stop the spread, several states across the country are adding new restrictions and mandates to help stop the spread.

But there are six states with Republican governors who long resisted mask mandates and coronavirus restrictions, according to CNN.

These states may have been slow to add mandates and restrictions, but there are a handful that have added new mandates and rules.

  • Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds announced a new statewide mask mandate after she previously called coronavirus rules “feel good measures,” which I wrote about for the Deseret News.
  • North Dakota added a new mask mandate, too, after the state became one of the top states for COVID-19 cases in recent weeks, as I wrote about for the Deseret News.
  • In Idaho, Boise has been hinting at adding additional actions before the Thanksgiving holiday, according to BoiseDev.
