Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is looking for answers after his childhood friend’s sister was shot and killed.

  • Ericka Weems, the sister of James’ childhood friend Brandon Weems, was reportedly killed. Police entered her home Monday and found her unresponsive, according to CNN.

James shared an Instagram post and a tweet about the incident:

  • “AKRON OHIO!! My brother’s sister was murdered this past weekend in her home! My brother family need answers to why and by whom. My city I need y’all to go to work and find out who did this awful, shameful, disgusting thing to such a caring, loving angel! #Justice4EricaWeems”

Per ESPN, the police in Akron did not announce any arrests or suspects.

Officials told CNN that the medical examiner said Weems died from gunshot wounds suffered between Oct. 31 and Nov. 2.

  • “The investigation is still in its early stages. No suspects have been identified or arrested as of yet, but investigators remain optimistic,” Akron Police Department Lt. Michael A. Miller told CNN

Weems previously owned a day care center in Columbus, Ohio, according to News 5 ABC Cleveland. She ran a day care service in West Akron, too.

  • “She had a passion and love for children,” Brandon Weems told News 5 ABC Cleveland. “She could get kids to say and do things that even their parents couldn’t do.”
