Scientists said they have recently discovered a new planet that is basically Mustafar from the “Star Wars” fictional universe.
- The planet — called K2-141b — is a hot planet with oceans made of lava and rain is made of rocks.
- Scientists said this is one of the most “extreme” planets ever discovered.
- Two-thirds of the planet has perpetual daylight, according to the study.

The discovery was one of the new lava planets that have been recent discovered, the scientists said in a new study, which was published in Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society.
- The scientists — from McGill University, York University and the Indian Institute of Science Education — said these planets orbit their star so much that they end up having lava oceans, CBS News reports.
- “All rocky planets, including Earth, started off as molten worlds but then rapidly cooled and solidified. Lava planets give us a rare glimpse at this stage of planetary evolution,” said co-author Nicolas Cowan, according to CBS News.
