CNN announced Wednesday that just a week after officially suspending his campaign for president, former Democratic candidate Andrew Yang will be joining the network as a political commentator.

Shortly after the announcement, Yang tweeted he would be commenting on tonight’s debate, and said he is excited to apply his knowledge as a former candidate to public discussion.

Yang has come into the public eye in the past few months. He entered the 2020 Democratic primaries as an entrepreneur with no political experience, and running on a platform which focused on a universal basic income, he quickly gained supporters, who became known as the “Yang Gang.”

But even with the Yang Gang behind him, Yang suspended his campaign after a poor voter turnout at the New Hampshire Democratic primaries, the Hill reports.

Yang’s first TV appearance as a commentator is tonight covering the Las Vegas Democratic debate, hosted by NBC and MSNBC. Yang has said that in addition to his commentating duties he will also be live-tweeting the event.
