What’s going on: The coronavirus has continued to spread across the world, leading to about 300 deaths and about 14,000 infections, BBC News reports.

  • The disease has reached stateside with more than 10 people becoming infected, according to reports.

The hospital: Chinese officials said the Huoshenshan hospital took 10 days to build, lasting from Jan. 24 to Feb. 3, according to BBC News.

  • The hospital is located in Wuhan, the epicenter of the virus.
  • A crew of 7,000 people built the hospital, according to USA Today.
  • The hospital is staffed with 1,400 doctors, nurses and staff.
  • The hospital has 30 intensive care units.

On Monday: The hospital allowed patients inside for the first time. There was no word on the status of the patients, according to USA Today.

Turning away: According to The New York Times, some of the patients have been turned away from the hospital.

“One man, Xue Ying, was driving toward the hospital with his cousin, who had been tested for the coronavirus and was awaiting the results.

“Mr. Xue believes his mother died from the coronavirus, but they could not secure a bed in a hospital and she was never tested for it. His aunt and uncle were also in a hospital.”
