The Peninsula Open Space Trust released an adorable video that shows a coyote and a badger playfully crossing through a pipe in the San Francisco Bay Area. The video marks the first time this type of behavior has been captured in the area.
The unique friendship seems like the inspiration for an animated animal movie, like Wes Anderson’s “Fantastic Mr. Fox.” A badger and coyote flick has already received casting suggestions from “Captain America” actor Chris Evans, who tweeted that he imagines the two animals being voiced by Sam Elliott and Michael J. Fox.
While the animals’ behavior is unusual, it’s not unheard of. Coyotes and badgers have previously hunted together, CNN reported. Badgers are able to dig and drive animals that burrow into the ground out of their hiding places for the coyotes to hunt down.
The Peninsula Open Space Trust was able to capture the playful footage thanks to its partnership with Pathways for Wildlife, according to CNN. As part of this partnership, 50 cameras were set up at bridges and culvert pipes to observe and better understand wildlife.
