Former Nevada Sen. Harry Reid endorsed former Vice President Joe Biden for president Monday, USA Today reports.
What’s happening:
- Reid said President Donald Trump did “unspeakable damage” to the United States. He added that the Democratic Party needs a candidate who can bring diverse people together.
- Reid said: “Joe Biden’s strength of character and deep experience stand in the starkest contrast to Trump’s amorality, corruption and utter incompetence.”
- Reid said: “Biden will be a much-needed stabilizing force following Trump’s disastrous term, offering a positive and progressive alternative to Trump’s dark vision of racism, xenophobia and policies built on cruelty and exclusion. I believe Biden is best able to defeat Donald Trump and enact the policies we all care about.”
Why not before Nevada vote?
- Reid said he wouldn’t endorse a candidate before Nevada’s caucus event in February, USA Today reports.
Anyone else endorse Joe Biden?
- Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar and former mayor Pete Buttigieg are expected to endorse Biden on Monday night at one of Biden’s campaign rallies, The Los Angeles Times reports.
