A video clip of a reporter in Montana has gone viral after he spotted a herd of bison walking toward him while setting up the camera for his report.

What happened:

  • Deion Broxton posted a video of himself filming a news reporter at Yellowstone National Park. As he set up his shot, he noticed a herd of bison walking his way.
  • He tweeted: “There was a herd of bison walking right toward me at @YellowstoneNPS today!”
  • In the video, he said: “I ain’t messing with you. Oh no. I’m not messing with you.”
  • Broxton dips out of the camera’s view to avoid the bison.
  • He returned to the camera minutes later.
  • The video has more than 5 million views.

After the escape

  • Broxton posted a video of the bison once he left.
  • The video earned the attention of Yellowstone National Park, which tweeted out the moment with the caption: “A perfect example of what to do when approached by wildlife! Thanks Deion for putting the #YellowstonePledge into action!”
  • Yellowstone has closed down due to the coronavirus. The park has called for people to follow the Yellowstone Pledge, which is “a personal promise you make to yourself and the park. It can be taken anywhere: it doesn’t need to be taken out loud or in front of anyone. Tag #YellowstonePledge and encourage others to do the same.” according to the park’s website.
