Costco will require all members and guests to wear face coverings when they enter the store for the foreseeable future, the company said Wednesday.

What’s happening:

  • Costco called for all customers to wear face masks that cover the nose and mouth at all times while shoppers are inside the stores.
  • The requirement will not apply to children who are younger than 2 years old, according to Costco.
  • Individuals who can’t wear a mask or face covering because of their medical condition will not be required to wear a mask.
  • Costco said: “The use of a mask or face covering should not be seen as a substitute for social distancing. Please continue to observe rules regarding appropriate distancing while on Costco premises.”

New hours:

  • Costco announced new hours for warehouses and gas stations. The hours will return to normal. But there will be special hours for those 60 and older, as well as those with disabilities, from 9 to 10 a.m. from Monday to Friday.
  • Costco said: “Only members who meet this criteria will be able to shop during these hours. Guests will not be admitted.”
