Want to bring a goat into your next Zoom meeting? It’s possible now that one farm in California is offering virtual tours.
What’s going on:
- Sweet Farm is offering schools, businesses and friend groups a chance to see the animals on their farm through virtual tours, which you can add to your own Zoom conference meeting, KQED reports.
- The meetings — called “Goat 2 Meetings” — cost between $64 and $150 for corporate visits. The cost will depend on the length of time you want to spend there. Schools can tour the farm for free, according to KQED.
- Christie Lagally, founder and CEO of Rebellyous Foods in Seattle, told KQED she’s bringing her employees to the farm.
- She said: “One of our executives is on (Sweet Farm’s) board, so she recommended it as an opportunity to raise morale given all the things we’re dealing with, particularly with the coronavirus here in Seattle.”
Why now:
- According to VegNews, the farm often raises funding through visits to the farm. But current lockdown orders due to the coronavirus pandemic have made that hard. So the company arranged these meetings.
- Sanctuary founder Anna Sweet told VegNews: “We’ve been thrilled at the excitement around Goat-2-Meeting. We’ve had bookings from Fortune 100 companies, major Silicon Valley tech companies, and even Hollywood movie studios. It’s been a great way for us to continue our mission of creating a more compassionate world, when we’ve otherwise had to shut our farm doors during the COVID-19 quarantine. We’re using the money we raise from corporate meeting bookings to provide free virtual farm field trips to schools.”
