Multiple cities across the U.S. spent Sunday morning cleaning up after a range of protests, riots and demonstrations occurred over the weekend.
Many of the protests were in reaction to the death of George Floyd, a black man who died after being pinned under the knee of a white Minneapolis police officer. Cities like New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, Minneapolis and Salt Lake City were among those who saw demonstrations trickle through their downtown areas.
Tens of thousands of people peacefully protested. Rioting, looting and violence happened in these cities. There were also “police vehicles torched, stores emptied and objects hurled at officers. The police response varied from restrained to aggressive, with officers at times firing tear gas and rubber bullets.” according to The Associated Press.
