Target and CVS are the latest major retailers who will require shoppers to wear a mask in-stores nationwide.
What’s happening:
Starting Aug. 1, Target will be enforcing its mask policy, which will exclude “those with underlying medical conditions and young children.” according to USA Today.
- Due to local and state regulations, 80% of Target stores already require masks for shoppers.
- Target will be providing disposable masks at each of their stores for customers who do not have a face covering.
- According to USA Today, Target will continue to offer curbside pickup and deliveries through the company Shipt. This includes the new addition of fresh and frozen groceries to the items shoppers can purchase through curbside pickup.
CVS will also be requiring masks at their stores starting July 20, too.
- In a statement, CVS said, “With the recent spike in COVID-19 infections, we’re joining others in taking the next step and requiring all customers to wear face coverings when entering any of our stores throughout the country effective Monday, July 20.”
Bigger picture:
- These announcements come days after Walmart, Sam’s Club, Kohl’s, Kroger, Best Buy, and Starbucks have decided to also require the use of masks in-store, according to CNN.
- Each company, however, has different dates which their mask policy will go into effect.
