Denver is poised for a week of wild weather next week, according to The Washington Post.
- “This will be an interesting potential weather event,” David Barjenbruch, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service office in Boulder, Colorado, told The Washington Post. “Monday we could be 100 in a few spots. We could go from record hot to near record cold.”
Temperatures will hit the 90-degree mark on Labor Day, which is apart of a heat wave running through the Western United States this week.
- On Tuesday, temperatures will drop into the 30s. That means a 60-degree drop in 36 hours.
And, in some areas, snow is possible on Tuesday and Wednesday.
- “Snow will blanket the foothills and mountains and snow is also likely to be falling along the entire Front Range urban corridor by midday Tuesday,” CBS Denver reports.
- The snow might cause downed trees and power outages, according to CBS Denver.
This is actually pretty common
- According to the National Weather Service, the earliest snowfall for Denver was on Sept. 3, 1961, with 4.2 inches.
- Snow has appear in Denver in September all the way back to 1882. The last time it happened was on Sept. 24, 2000, CBS Denver reports.
