The world found itself without a way to procrastinate or doom scroll Monday since Facebook and Instagram went down due to a global outage.

As I wrote for the Deseret News, the social media apps Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp all went down on Monday morning due to a global outage.

Facebook confirmed the outage in a tweet Monday, something some people might experience problems accessing their feeds.

  • “We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience.”

Twitter, though, did not go down. Not to be outdone, Twitter responded to the news as well, welcoming everyone to their platform for the day.

So, people went onto Twitter to share their favorite memes and jokes about the Facebook damage.

The Facebook and Instagram outage came one day after a whistleblower said the social media app has been more focused more on profit over people, according to Fox Business.
