The small country of Gibraltar — a British territory — has vaccinated its entire adult population that wants one, The Washington Post reports.
- The country’s population is about 30,000.
- However — it’s unclear if this means every adult has received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine or just one dose, according to the New York Post.
How did it happen so quick?
Per The Washington Post, the country has two major advantages in its vaccine rollout. For one, it’s a small country with a population relative to one small town in the United States.
- The country also received “a steady stream of vaccine doses imported from Britain. That’s allowed the government to begin giving shots to thousands of workers who live in Spain but commute across the border to Gibraltar every day,” according to The Washington Post.
- Gibraltar had fewer hiccups in its rollout, too, since it’s so small and had fewer people to vaccinate.
Overall numbers
Gibraltar had 4,270 cases of COVID-19, which is less than some daily counts for Utah. The country had 94 deaths for COVID-19, too, The Sun reports.
