The Internal Revenue Service said Wednesday it has sent out a fresh batch of stimulus checks to people who did not receive them yet.

  • Per USA Today, the IRS sent out 1.1 million stimulus checks worth more than $2 billion on Wednesday.

Who got new stimulus checks?

The newest checks were sent to “eligible individuals for whom the IRS previously did not have information to issue an Economic Impact Payment but who recently filed a tax return,” according to the IRS.

  • The majority of the new checks will be sent through direct deposit, though some will get paper checks.

Did the stimulus checks work?

These new checks began distribution last Friday. The payment date for them is officially May 5, though, according to USA Today.

So far, the U.S. government has distributed 164 million stimulus check payments worth $386 billion since March 12 when President Joe Biden signed the checks into law, according to USA Today.
