The J Hotel in Shanghai, China, opened this month and has claimed to be the world’s highest hotel. The J Hotel is located on the top floors of Shanghai Tower, the second-tallest building in the world, reports USA Today.

How tall is the world’s tallest hotel?

The J Hotel is about 2,000 feet in the air — or twice the height of the Eiffel Tower, says CNN. Boasting 165 rooms, the J Hotel finally opened this month after pandemic-induced delays. The hotel owes its insane elevation to its location at the top of the Shanghai Tower.

  • According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the Gevora Hotel in Dubai still holds the official title of world’s tallest hotel. Typically, the title of tallest hotel only goes to buildings that are entirely used as hotels, says CNN.

Even without the official title of world’s tallest hotel, guests staying at the J Hotel have a lot to enjoy.

What is it like staying in the J Hotel?

It’s not cheap, but it’s incredibly high-end. The hotel offers guests 24/7 personal butlers, a swimming pool on the 84th floor, seven different restaurants (including one on the 120th floor), a luxury spa and a fitness center, says France 24.

  • Every room has a full Chinese tea set and a bathtub shaped like magnolia petals, says CNN.

Staterooms — the cheapest rooms available — cost about $557 a night. Larger suites cost upward of $10,467 a night, reports CNN. Basically, Shanghai’s luxury hotel scene just stepped up its game.
