The last time Biden delivered a prime-time address from the Oval Office was in July, when he explained why he was dropping out of the presidential race, per The New York Times.

The tradition of a president delivering a farewell address dates back to George Washington. This address is one in a series of speeches Biden is giving in his last days as president. On Monday, he gave a speech at the State Department focusing on foreign policy.

Early Wednesday afternoon, Biden delivered remarks about the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas that was made earlier that same day.

“Too many innocent people have died, too many communities have been destroyed and in this deal the people in Gaza can finally recover and rebuild, they can look to a future without Hamas in power,” Biden said.
