The U.S. Mint unveiled seven new coin designs in honor of America’s 250th anniversary in the final days of 2025, and this week, the first ones went into circulation.

These new designs will be produced for one year only and will be featured on dimes, quarters and half-dollar coins. Each new 2026 coin will feature a dual date, “1776 ~ 2026.”

New coin designs were authorized by the Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020 and signed into law by President Donald Trump on Jan. 13, 2021. The new designs feature past presidents, pilgrims and Lady Liberty.

“The designs on these historic coins depict the story of America’s journey toward a ‘more perfect union,’ and celebrate America’s defining ideals of liberty,” said Acting Mint Director Kristie McNally in a press release. “We hope to offer each American the opportunity to hold our nation’s storied 250 years of history in the palms of their hands as we Connect America through Coins.”

The first of the new coin designs to enter circulation was the Mayflower Compact Quarter, which went into circulation on Monday. The other coins will be released into circulation throughout 2026.
