Idaho law enforcement has yet to identify the victims of the Twin Falls In-N-Out shooting that was carried out over the weekend by 24-year-old Chad Williams, who officials say acted alone and died by suicide following the tragic event that killed three and wounded seven others.
“We are still working to determine the full set of circumstances in this incident, including the suspect’s actions and possible motivations,” Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks said during a Sunday press conference. “The Williams family has been notified, and they are fully cooperating with law enforcement.”
Despite that, some victims have been identified through crowdfunding campaigns for medical expenses and social media tributes honoring those who were killed in the shooting.
Of those wounded, authorities said two people have been released from the hospital after receiving treatment, three remain in stable condition and two are in critical condition, per NewsNation.
Here is who has been identified online so far:
23-year-old Ashley Garibay
California native Ashley Garibay was an employee at the newly opened fast-food restaurant where Williams opened fire, according to the New York Post.
Friends and family of Garibay posted tributes to her, saying she was a “beautiful friend.” Her mother, Sabrina Garibay, changed her profile photo on Facebook to one of her and her daughter, on which someone commented, “You will be missed so much. I remember when you were baby and you to come stay with me so mom could go to work. With your brother and sister. You have become a beautiful young lady.”
Following the deadly shooting, In-N-Out President Lynsi Snyder confirmed in a public statement that “one of our beautiful associates” was killed on Saturday.
“She was taking care of our most important asset — our Customers, and her life was taken by a disgusting human who doesn’t value the lives of others or his own. He shot both on our property and off, and ended his life shortly after he took the precious lives of our Associate and Customers, innocent people who never saw it coming,” Snyder said.
She continued, “IN-N-OUT will be mourning with the families and praying for them as they tread through a very painful season. I am no stranger to loss, but this is so incredibly tough, and my heart also goes out to all of the Associates and Customers who were there during this traumatic event, I love you all, and I ask you to turn to God, not in anger, but seeking comfort and strength for those who are hurting.”
59-year-old Christopher Claunch
Christopher Claunch was another victim who died in the Twin Falls shooting, according to The New York Times.
His sister, Kimberly Castaneda, told The New York Times that Claunch was an avid In-N-Out fan and was excited that the fast-food chain had recently opened the Twin Falls location on July 24.
Claunch worked at the Renaissance Ranch Recovery Center in Rupert, Idaho, and Castaneda said he was waiting for the crowds to die down following the grand opening before visiting himself.
“You have no idea how surprised I was when I found out he was there,” she told the outlet, adding that Claunch, a California native himself, would make a point to visit the restaurant every time he was in his home state.
Castaneda said she recently spent the Fourth of July with her brother and remarked on his fun personality.
“My silly brother took my headband that I was wearing with little tin wheels on it,” she said, “and he sat with those things on like it was just no big deal.
“He was always being a goofball,” she added.
Loved ones raise money for victims’ medical bills
Steven Pixley happened to be riding his motorcycle in the area when he was hit by a bullet, according to a GoFundMe started by his cousin Tracey Evans.
“He was simply riding his motorcycle by the restaurant when he was struck by a bullet, becoming an innocent victim of a senseless act of violence,” she wrote. “Steven made it to the Boise hospital. They are going to do a CT scan today so they can create a 3D model to figure out how to put his elbow back together. Thank you everyone for your support and prayers.”
Terry Dudley was shot twice in the back while charging his Tesla in a parking lot on Saturday when the mass shooting occurred, per a GoFundMe started by a friend and colleague of Dudley.
“There are very few people in this world like Terry. He is the kind of man who quietly puts others before himself, who works hard, loves deeply, and never hesitates to lend a helping hand. He is tenacious, compassionate, kind hearted, and has a way of making those around him smile, even on their hardest days. As a widower, Terry has dedicated his life to raising his three sons and daughter with love, strength, and unwavering devotion. They are his world,” per the GoFundMe.
It continued, “While this fundraiser is being organized for Terry, any funds raised beyond his immediate needs will be shared with the other victims and their families to help support their recovery and healing as well. Our prayers remain with every victim, every survivor, and the families mourning loved ones they will never get to hold again.”
