SOUTH JORDAN — A couple was charged Wednesday with holding a group at gunpoint for at least half an hour after accusing them of theft and demanding money.

Chase Michael Cooper, 37, and Stacy Lamb Jacobsen, 51, both of South Jordan, are charged in 3rd District Court with three counts of aggravated kidnapping, a first-degree felony, and three counts of aggravated assault, a third-degree felony.

A group met Cooper at a club on April 26 and were then invited to his apartment where they stayed for a couple of hours. The next day, Cooper called members of the group and accused them of stealing some of his property and told them to come back to the apartment, according to charging documents.

Three men went to the apartment to explain that they did not take anything but were met at the door by Cooper holding an AR-15, the charges state.

“When they entered, Cooper started telling them he would kill them or shoot them if they did not return his property,” according to the charges.

Cooper led the men to a bedroom where his roommate, Jacobsen, also pointed a handgun at them, the charges say, and the duo then demanded $500 from the group.

One man later told police that they were threatened at gunpoint for 30 minutes and that they needed to return Cooper’s property “or they would suffer serious consequences.”

Another man told police that Cooper threatened to “hunt them down” if he did not get his money, according to charging documents.
