WEST MOUNTAIN — A Provo man was killed in a crash in Utah County on Monday evening, according to Utah Highway Patrol.

Eric E. Blackham, 18, died at the scene of the crash on state Route 147, police said. The crash happened around 8033 S. 5600 West, between West Mountain and Benjamin.

Witnesses told police that Blackham was driving north in a pickup truck about 5:15 p.m. and appeared to be racing another pickup truck, which had pulled up alongside Blackham’s truck.

One of the trucks side swiped the other “while exhibiting speed” and Blackham’s truck drove off the left side of the road, then overcorrected and went off the right side of the road and rolled over, Utah Highway Patrol said.

Blackham was ejected from the truck and killed. Both trucks had a driver and one passenger, and all involved were 18 years old or younger, according to Utah Highway Patrol.
