VERNAL — A former Uintah High School teacher was charged Monday with engaging in sexual activity with student.
Rodd Adam Repsher, 33, of Vernal, is charged with two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a 16- or 17-year-old. The sexual activity happened in 2015, according to court records.
In 2016, another teacher spotted Repsher with a 16-year-old student in his classroom, and he appeared to be pressed against her, according a police affidavit filed in 8th District Court.
“Later that evening Rodd told the teacher that he had true feelings for the victim and they were going to go away together after she graduates. Rodd told the teacher that he and the victim had kissed,” the affidavit states.
The incident was reported and Repsher was placed on administrative leave that day and was ultimately fired, according to police. However, no criminal charges were filed at that time.
In July, the case was reopened when a new witness came forward. The alleged victim was reinterviewed and this time disclosed that she had had “multiple sexual encounters with Rodd Repsher, who was employed as a teacher” at Uintah High School, the affidavit states. “The victim stated this started while she was a sophomore at the high school.”
The girl said the two had sex in the school, at Repsher’s residence and at a local business, according to the affidavit.
When Repsher was arrested in October, the school district called it an ongoing investigation because the original report in 2016 involved allegations of multiple victims.
