AMERICAN FORK — A 64-year-old man was killed Monday night in a hit-and-run, American Fork police said.
The crash happened about 8 p.m. in the area of 280 E. Main. First responders arrived to find that the man had suffered fatal injuries, American Fork Police Lt. Josh Christensen said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Because it was dark at the time, the driver of the car may not have realized that he or she hit the pedestrian, Christensen said. The man was not in a crosswalk at the time of the crash.
The speed limit in that area is 25 mph. Investigators don’t have reason to believe speed was a factor in the crash, according to Christensen.
Investigators are looking for a white Dodge Ram, manufactured between 2006 and 2009, “with a cargo style shell with double doors on the rear.” The truck will likely have some damage to the headlight area on the driver’s side.
Police are asking the driver or anybody else who may have witnessed the crash to call the American Fork Police Department at 801-763-3020 or Central Utah Dispatch at 801-794-3970.
