OREM — Four people were taken into custody on Tuesday after reports of shots fired near an apartment building in Orem, a spokesman for the Orem Police Department said.
Several calls came in around 4:25 p.m. about possible gunshots, police said. Investigators found shell casings near the parking garage of Promenade Place Apartments, 875 S. Geneva Road, an apartment complex that advertises itself as geared toward Utah Valley University students.
Surveillance footage reviewed by investigators appeared to show two separate parties exchanging gunfire outside the apartments before fleeing, Lt. Trent Colledge said.
Police believe two of the four people in custody were involved in the shooting, Colledge said. At least two of the four live in the apartment complex.
There is at least one other suspect still at large, Colledge said.
No injuries have been reported, police said, but investigators are asking local hospitals to let police know if any patients come in with gunshot wounds.
