SALT LAKE CITY — A man was shot and injured by a Salt Lake police officer Wednesday afternoon, according to police.

Officers stopped a stolen vehicle on 1460 West, near the intersection with North Temple, about 3:40 p.m., Salt Lake Police Sgt. Keith Horrocks said. When they approached the car and made contact with the driver, an officer fired at least one round.

The driver of the car, a 20-year-old white man, was taken to the hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

It’s unknown whether the man was inside the car when he was shot, Horrocks said.
