FARMINGTON — One person was critically injured in a head-on collision between a UTA bus and a car on Thursday, according to the Utah Transit Authority.

The accident happened about 9 a.m. in Farmington near 900 South and 200 East, said UTA spokesman Carl Arky.

The driver of the sedan that hit the bus, a man believed to be in his 30s, was seen weaving in and out of the oncoming traffic lane before crossing over the center line and hitting the bus, said Farmington Police Sgt. Brian Cooper. What caused the driver to cross the line was under investigation Thursday.

The driver, who Cooper described as being in “a lot of pain” when medical crews arrived, was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. The driver of the bus was also taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, mostly as a precaution, according to police. The lone passenger on the bus was not injured, Cooper said.
