OGDEN — What started as a double shooting in Ogden has turned into a homicide investigation.

Ogden police reported Friday that a 21-year-old man found shot in the chest in a church parking lot Thursday night has died. A second man was also shot and was treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.

Caleb Michael Skipps, 19, of Pleasant View, was booked into the Weber County Jail for investigation of homicide.

Police were called about 9:30 p.m. Thursday on a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found Issac Ignacio Gonzalez, 21, of North Ogden, in a church parking lot, 236 Porter Ave., in critical condition with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

While police were collecting evidence from that scene, a second man showed up at the hospital on his own with a gunshot wound to his arm, according to police. That man, whose identity was not released, gave detectives information that contributed to the arrest, according to police.

Investigators believe the shootings are drug related. Skipps has no other criminal history in state court outside of traffic infractions, according to court records.
