COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS — A woman died after being hit by a vehicle while crossing the street Thursday morning.
About 10 a.m. a woman was crossing Wasatch Boulevard in an intersection near 8150 South. A pickup truck was stopped at the light, according to Cottonwood Heights police, and when the light turned green, the truck began moving while the woman was still in the intersection.
The woman was dragged under the vehicle, according to police. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police described the victim as “an older female” and the driver as “an older male.” The name of the woman was not released pending notification of family.
Impairment was not believed to be a factor, according to police. Why the driver did not see the pedestrian was still under investigation Thursday.
