SALT LAKE CITY — A Salt Lake woman who said she was “full of rage” allegedly stabbed her boyfriend to death over the weekend, according to police.
Fernanda Tobar, 22, was booked into the Salt Lake County early Saturday for investigation of murder.
Salt Lake police say Tobar and her live-in boyfriend, Ryan Outlaw, 39, got into an argument about 6 p.m. Friday at their apartment near 200 E. South Temple over alleged infidelity.
Several neighbors called police reporting they could hear screams of “help me” coming from their apartment, according to a police affidavit. When officers arrived, they found Tobar and Outlaw exiting an elevator into the lobby. Outlaw was bleeding from his chest and collapsed, the affidavit states. He was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead just after 8 p.m.
When interviewed by police, Tobar said she was “hitting” Outlaw with a knife, according to the affidavit.
“Fernanda said that she was very angry and ‘full of rage’ this evening due to some jealousy issues between her and (Outlaw),” the affidavit states.
Tobar said she “began throwing objects outside of the window to their apartment,” according to the affidavit. She also said they had both been drinking prior to arguing. Tobar said Outlaw continued to talk “smack” to her, prompting her to hit him “all over his chest and back,” before she picked up a steak knife and began “hitting” him with that, the affidavit states.
When she noticed Outlaw was bleeding, she “asked him if he wanted an ambulance. Fernanda said that (Outlaw) nodded in the affirmative,” according to the affidavit.
