Artist Neil Brown makes last-minute touch-ups to his candy creations featured in the holiday candy window displays at Macy’s City Creek Center in Salt Lake City on Thursday. The display, which was unveiled Thursday night, marks the official kick-off celebration of the holiday season in Salt Lake City. The local tradition originated at the ZCMI Center in the 1970s. Now, Macy’s at City Creek Center sponsors this community tradition by featuring local artists who create and install oversized, handcrafted ornaments decked out with hundreds of pounds of candy. The ninth annual unveiling also kicked off Macy’s Believe campaign, which, in partnership with Make-A-Wish, helps give the gift of joy to children with critical illnesses. For every letter sent to Santa online at macys.com/believe or dropped off in Macy’s stores now through Christmas Eve, Macy’s will donate $1 to Make-A-Wish, up to $1 million. Additionally, throughout the campaign, customers can donate online when shopping at macys.com.
