SALT LAKE CITY — A woman was charged Friday with committing a wild series of events, starting with a carjacking and ending with a four-vehicle crash.

Jacklynn Nicole Maxfield, 25, whose address is listed in court documents as unknown, is charged in 3rd District Court with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony; DUI and reckless endangerment, both class A misdemeanors; causing an accident with property damage and reckless driving, both class B misdemeanors; and crossing a median into oncoming traffic, an infraction.

The events began Sept. 19 near 3200 E. Big Cottonwood Canyon Road when Maxfield jumped out of a vehicle and ran, according to charging documents. A short time later, another driver spotted Mayfield who appeared to be in distress, and pulled over to help.

Maxfield climbed through the passenger side window, and attacked the driver as she attempted to drive off, the charges state. Maxfield opened the driver’s door and attempted to push the woman out, according to police.

The driver pleaded with Maxfield to let her grab her dogs from the back seat. Maxfield agreed, and once the driver and her dogs were out of the car, Maxfield drove away, the charges state.

The vehicle was then spotted driving recklessly and crashed into the back of a Mercedes stopped at a red light at 1300 S. Foothill Drive. Maxfield then continued driving and was spotted going the wrong way on the I-15 and I-80 freeways, according to the charges. While driving west in the eastbound lanes of I-80, Maxfield is accused of causing a four-vehicle crash.

When police approached Maxfield, she was “twitchy, unable to hold still, and appeared to be under the influence of a narcotic,” according to the charges, which add that a toxicology test showed amphetamine and methamphetamine in her blood.

In October, Maxfield was arrested for stabbing another woman while Maxfield was in what the victim described as “meth psychosis,” according to charging documents, She was charged with aggravated assault, a second-degree felony.
