SALT LAKE CITY — One person is dead and another critically injured following a shooting outside a Salt Lake City convenience store.
Police were called about 11:50 p.m. Wednesday to the Corner Stop store, 203 E. Hampton Ave. (1200 South). The first officers arrived to find several people screaming and two victims, said Salt Lake Police Lt. Carlos Valencia.
One person died at the scene. The other was transported to a local hospital in critical condition but was expected to survive, Valencia said. Both victims were males.
The victims were outside the store when a gray Nissan Altima pulled up and the gunman got out of the vehicle and fired seven to 10 shots, according to witnesses. The suspect then got back in the car and drove off, Valencia said. Detectives recovered several shell casings on the sidewalk.
As of Thursday morning no arrests had been made.
