OGDEN — A Salt Lake man police say was involved in a drive-by shooting over the weekend has been booked into the Weber County Jail.

About 1:40 a.m. Sunday, shots were fired in the 2000 block of Madison Avenue, according to a police affidavit. Officers viewed a Ring doorbell camera that recorded a Chevy pickup truck pull up in front of a driveway, followed by seven shots being fired, the affidavit states.

Three hours later, police spotted the vehicle and a chase followed. During the pursuit the vehicle collided with an electrical box, causing severe damage and slowing the pickup’s travel, the affidavit states.

Three men inside the vehicle got out and ran. All were captured a short time later.

Alberto Delgado, 27, of Salt Lake City, Carlos Jose Olivarez, 20, of Ogden, and Derick Solis, 32, of Ogden, were charged Monday with failing to stop at the command of a police officer. Solis received several additional charges including felony drug possession, causing an accident, and assault by a prisoner for getting into a fistfight with the officer trying to arrest him, according to charging documents.

Sunday afternoon, a resident called to report finding a gun in the road, the affidavit states. Police found that weapon and a second gun in front of the resident’s house.

On Monday, Delgado made a call from jail to a woman telling her that police found the guns, according to the affidavit.

“Alberto tells her that he is going to go to prison. (The woman) asks why and Alberto said, they found the guns. Alberto goes on to say that the police came in and said they found the guns and did a DNA swab. Alberto tells (the woman) that he was involved in a shooting in Ogden,” the affidavit states.

When the woman asked if those guns were the ones used in the drive-by shooting, Delgado said yes, according to the affidavit.

He was booked for investigation of additional counts of two counts of felony discharge of a firearm, shooting from a vehicle, obstruction of justice and discharging a weapon.
