KEARNS — An 18-year-old Kearns man has been arrested and accused of sexually assaulting two children and threatening to shoot up a high school.

Michael Tristan Hauser was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail Monday for investigation of two counts of rape of a child, two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and making a terroristic threat.

The mother of a 6-year-old boy called Unified police Sunday to report that her son was sexually assaulted by Hauser, who “after the incident made threats to shoot up Kearns High,” according to a police booking affidavit.

When interviewed by police, Hauser admitted to the sexual misconduct and said he took a picture of the action on his phone, the affidavit states.

“Michael said because he was upset about the incident he threatened to shoot up Kearns High School. Michael said he probably would not shoot the school,” the report states.

When doing a records check on Hauser, detectives discovered that he was investigated a few months ago for an incident involving another juvenile in which the circumstances were very similar, according to the affidavit. Hauser was not charged at that time, but Unified police said Tuesday that his arrest on Monday was also for that October incident.
