SALT LAKE CITY — A man who police say kicked his 84-year-old grandmother, knocking her unconscious, was arrested Friday.

Daniel Mutambala, 18, of Salt Lake City, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of aggravated assault on an elderly adult and interfering with an arresting officer.

According to a police affidavit, Mutambala became upset with his grandmother, “and intentionally kicked the victim in the chest knocking her temporarily unconscious.”

The woman had trouble breathing after regaining consciousness and had to be taken to a local hospital via ambulance, according to the affidavit.

When officers attempted to take Mutambala into custody, he resisted and “got into a fighting stance and was tased by officers due to resisting arrest,” the affidavit states.
