PROVO — Qualtrics says it has settled a lawsuit against an events company that secured The Killers for its canceled user conference.

The Provo-based company planned to host the band for a private concert at its X4 summit earlier this month but canceled the four-day event due to concerns about the coronavirus. It filed a federal lawsuit last week, claiming SME Entertainment Group and The Killers insisted on being paid. The band was not named in the lawsuit.

The lawsuit was filed in court but apparently was never served, and related to financial obligations owed as a result of the concert cancellation. Qualtrics, The Killers and SME are pleased that they were able to act in the best interest for the safety of attendees, the fans and the community, according to a company statement.

“We were so excited to have The Killers join us. They are one of the greatest rock bands in the world,” said Mike Maughan, Qualtrics head of strategic initiatives. “They and SME have been completely understanding of the situation and all of us are equally aligned in ensuring the health and safety of The Killers’ fans and all X4 attendees. We have a great relationship with both of them and look forward to working together in the future.”
