SALT LAKE CITY — Rep. Logan Wilde, R-Croydon, has been tapped by Gov. Gary Herbert as the commissioner of the Utah Department of Agriculture and Food.

“Logan Wilde is the perfect fit for this position,” Herbert said in a statement. “He is a great leader, and as a rancher himself, his expertise in agriculture will greatly benefit the department. I look forward to working with him in this new role.”

From 1998 to now Wilde has worked as a managing partner at M.R. Wilde and Sons. He served as chairman of the Morgan County Council, and as chairman of the Weber-Morgan Board of Health. In 2016, he was elected to serve in the Utah House of Representatives. The appointment is subject to confirmation by the Utah Senate.
