FRUITA, Wayne County — A 17-year-old boy was killed in a motorcycle accident in Wayne County over the weekend.
The boy was riding in the Burro Wash area south of Notom near Capitol Reef National Park, on rough terrain “when he hit a rock and was thrown from his motorcycle,” according to a statement from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office. The boy was not wearing a helmet, according to the statement.
Bystanders and deputies attempted life-saving measures, but the boy died due to his injuries, the department stated.
