Organizer Sofia Alcala chants while blocking traffic on 600 South during a protest for Bernardo Palacios-Carbajal in Salt Lake City on Thursday. Palacios-Carbajal was shot and killed by Salt Lake police May 23, two days before George Floyd was killed by police in Minneapolis. Floyd’s death has prompted weeks of protests decrying racism and police brutality across the country, including in Salt Lake City where protesters have also spoken out against the death of Palacios-Carbajal. The use of force is being reviewed by the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office.
