SALT LAKE CITY — Utah confirmed 472 more positive COVID-19 tests on Sunday, health officials said.
The new cases were reported out of 5,647 tests, for an 8.3% positive rate. They bring the state’s total since the pandemic began to 21,100 cases out of 328,449 tested, a 6.4% positive rate, according to the Utah Department of Health.
The Beehive State also saw 32 new patients require hospitalization for the novel coronavirus since Saturday’s report. Now, 192 people with COVID-19 are in hospitals, just three more than the previous day.
Eighty-three COVID-19 patients are in intensive care units, which are running at 66.2% capacity. That is six more coronavirus patients and a nearly 4% increase in use compared to Saturday. Non-intensive care units are 50.9% full, according to Utah Department of Health data. Of the state’s 1,297 ventilators, 174 are in use by coronavirus and other patients — 31 fewer than Saturday.
No new deaths were reported, leaving the state’s toll at 167.
Just under 12,000 of the state’s cases are now considered recovered after passing the three-week point since their diagnoses.
