SALT LAKE CITY — More criminal charges were filed Tuesday against people who did more than just protest in downtown Salt Lake City more than a week ago.

Emilie Marie Smith, 22, and Lauren Elizabeth Hambrick, 24, both of Salt Lake City, are charged in 3rd District Court with criminal mischief, a third-degree felony, for throwing rocks through a window of the Matheson Courthouse, 450 S. State.

The incident happened about 11:50 p.m. on May 30.

“Both (women) threw rocks at a panel of glass, breaking the glass,” according to charging documents.

Damage was estimated at approximately $3,900.

Also Tuesday, the Department of Public Safety asked for the public’s help in identifying people accused of defacing the state Capitol on the same night. Several pictures of people investigators would like to talk to were released. Anyone with information is asked to contact the State Bureau of Investigation at 801-965-4747 or 801-887-3800.
