OGDEN — A 40-year old woman was killed in an early morning shooting Wednesday and one man has been arrested, police confirmed.

Police responded about 12:35 a.m. after receiving a shots fired call in the 3000 block of Adams Ave. One woman was found with gunshot wounds outside a home in the area. She was transported to a hospital in stable condition.

According to a probable cause statement filed in 2nd District Court, Sergio Chavez, 41, of Ogden, shot the woman as she was running away from him.

A second woman, age 40, was found dead inside the home, police said. The names of the women were not released on Wednesday.

According to the affidavit, Chavez was unlawfully in the country and is restricted from having firearms. He was arrested and booked into Weber County Jail for investigation of murder, possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person and forgery.

Chavez was ordered to be held without bail, court documents show.
