SALT LAKE CITY — Police are investigating a vehicle that crashed into a South Salt Lake home Friday afternoon pinning a 10-year-old boy beneath the truck.
The incident occurred at a house just north of 300 East 3300 South in South Salt Lake Friday afternoon about 2:30 p.m., according to South Salt Lake police.
The truck was traveling at high speed when it crashed into the home where three children were inside, police say. A passerby pulled two of the children out of the home, but a 10-year-old boy was pinned beneath the truck and could not be removed at the time.
According to police, emergency medical services worked to free him for about 20 minutes. The boy was then flown to Primary Children’s Hospital in “serious but stable” condition.
Police report that the driver sustained minor injuries and is being investigated for driving impaired. The family will not be allowed back inside the house until it is inspected as the structure sustained major damage.
